We love all the street art and murals in and around Lexington. In researching the artists and history of these murals, we’ve been able to interview some of the artists. Today, we feature Odeith, the artist behind the Joe B Hall mural in Cynthiana.

Joe B Hall Mural

Did you solely design this mural or were you provided a sketch to create?
I was inspired by a portrait and did a realistic painting( memorial) of Joe B Hall.

How long did this mural take you to complete?
This one was around 4 days.

Did you use brush and paint or spray paint?
It was spray paint.

Interesting fact that not many people know about this mural?
Well, actually this one was very special because the council did an inauguration party with Joe B Hall himself there and I’ve had the pleasure to meet him. It’s a small city and this painting was for a different purpose.

Walking Dead Mural

Odeith also painted the Walking Dead Mural in Cynthiana. We asked him the same questions about this work of art.

Did you solely design this mural or were you provided a sketch to create?
The mural was based on a picture frame from the movie.

How long did this mural take you to complete and did you work alone on it?
This one was around 6 days and it was all by myself.

What inspired you to put the actors in the mural instead of zombies/characters from the show?
At that time I was a fan of the walking dead series and those were the top actors. I was invited to paint this mural because the artist who created the walking dead book stories was originally from that town.
