Black Mountain North Carolina Rocks!

Black Mountain North Carolina Rocks!

I love Black Mountain Mural

While I’ve had the chance to visit many states on my travels over the years, North Carolina was not one of them. I finally had the opportunity to check this state out and started in Black Mountain. You absolutely must start at the Visitor Center located at 201 E State Street to pick up the visitor guide and learn more about the local area. The staff is inviting and can direct you to specific places to eat, stay and play based on your interests.

Visitor Center at Black Mountain North Carolina

Black Mountain is a Certified Entrepreneurial Community with a historic district comprised of an eclectic mix of everything you could possibly want. Black Mountain is also a pet friendly town with many retailers providing “dogs welcome” establishments.

Following your visit to the Visitors Center, park your car across the street in the free public parking lot and take a stroll around the vibrant and historic downtown. There are plenty of shops, galleries, restaurants, music venues, inns and breweries in this area to keep you busy all day and your belly full.

A few of my favorites that I recommend you checking out are:

Center for the Arts

Town Hardware & General Store

You are going to feel like you’ve stepped back in time when entering Town Hardware & General Store. They really do have it all and then some. It’s just a fun place to explore, and you can’t miss one aisle in this store!! Located at 103 West State Street.

While this list is not a complete list of everything in downtown, it’s a good representation. One final note before you go and check out this mountain town….

Black Mountain, North Carolina, won the TripAdvisor readers’ choice award for Prettiest Small Town Vacation in America in 2017. Definitely worth the trip to the “small town that rocks.”
