From just a few farmers selling out of the back of their pick-up trucks to a real storefront in historic downtown, the Paris-Bourbon County Farmers’ Market has come a long way. It’s more than just a Saturday morning pop-up market; they are open all week long offering everything from free-range eggs and local honey to quality meats and fresh-baked pastries. Fruits and vegetables are available as the seasons allow while jams, jellies, candies and other locally made food items are always here.
Kentucky’s only indoor farmer’s market is in Paris. During the summer months, they add an outdoor market. We ventured there this past weekend and picked up some great fresh beef and produce.
It had been a while since we’ve had cube steaks. Robin Ridge Farms of Paris was there with a variety of meats, but our choice for dinner was the cube steaks. These cooked up beautifully and have to be the best we’ve ever had. Super lean and very tasty.
We also picked up the most delicious and soft fresh pretzels from Lacey Bread Company. I had been seeing her mouthwatering posts for weeks on instagram and now just had to try her fresh baked goods. The pretzels were soft and tasted amazing with just the right amount of salt. And her breads – you just have to try them for yourself.
