You may not be aware of this… but Daniel Boone actually died and was originally buried in Missouri. Some Kentuckians learned of his location, disinterred the grave, and brought his body back to Frankfort Cemetery in Kentucky, where it is currently buried.
While visiting the gravesite, be sure to check out the amazing views of the state capital and Frankfort in general. This is a beautiful vantage point and changes with the seasons.
Daniel Boone was born in 1734 and died in 1820. He entered Eastern Kentucky in 1767 and explored the bluegrass region from 1769 – 1771, guiding the Transylvania Company and blazing the Wilderness Trail. He built Fort Boonesborough in 1775 and directed the defense of the fort in 1778. In 1779 he emigrated to Missouri. Daniel Boone was reinterred, with wife Rebecca, in Frankfort Cemetery in 1845.
