Pizza is a staple in my diet. Just like finding murals in every city, pizza is a must find as well. I always ask at the visitor’s center or chat up the locals to find where they recommend. In Black Mountain, My Father’s Pizza was one of the two pizza places that was highly recommended.
My Father’s Pizza is a family-run pizzeria offering gourmet specialty pies and a variety of pasta dishes since 1990. They have an expansive menu for a pizza joint. The supreme pizza has tons of veggies and all the meat. The toppings are very generous here, almost too much. The crust is nice and not oily.
My Father’s Pizza also has a nice variety of local beer. The lasagna looked amazing, although I didn’t order it, I saw the people at the next table have it. It was super cheesy and looked to be cooked to perfection with a bubbly top.
If you have room for dessert, I highly recommend the carrot cake.
The vibe is like a chill family neighborhood place. It has a hometown feel and is a comfortable, relaxed environment. If its open, ask to sit on the patio – which is pet friendly by the way. The patio overlooks the shops of downtown.
The pricing is fair here and service is welcoming. Wait times can be long, but overall worth it. My waitress asked if I was local and then recommended several places in the area when she learned I was visiting.
