Go Wild at the Indianapolis Zoo

Flamingo at Indianapolis Zoo

Located in the White River State Park, the Indianapolis Zoo boasts 230 animal species and a botanical center. With 5 areas to explore and the White River Gardens, it’s easy to spend a day here. Interact or see the elephants in the Plains area, check out alligators and crocodiles in the Forests area, take in a dolphin show in the Oceans area and don’t forget the meerkats in the Deserts area.

Featured Attractions

Butterfly Kaleidoscope

The butterfly kaleidoscope is open from mid-March through early September and is located in the Hilbert Conservatory. Oceans building hosts a shark and ray touchpool. Daily presentation of magnificent macaws happens May – September. The new Flight to Survive exhibit with alligators and crocodiles opened in May 2021 at the Indianapolis Zoo.

The zoo also features seasonal feeds with Flamingos, Budgies, Lorikeets and Giraffes. We had so much fun feeding the giraffes. Your party gets personal time with the giraffe so it’s a very personal experience. Great photo opportunities abound at all of the feeding interactions.

Family rides are available including the carousel, train ride, Kombo family coaster and Skyline. We strongly recommend the skyline for a fun view of the zoo and a potential “tree top” viewing of the orangutans.

You can purchase ride and feed tickets individually, in a package or with the unlimited Total Adventure Package.

Dolphin Show at Indianapolis Zoo

Of course, if you want the ultimate day at the Indianapolis Zoo check out the special experiences. You can meet the dolphins in the dolphin in-water adventure or feed a sloth, scrub an elephant or hand an animal artist create a masterpiece just for you.
