Last week I ventured to Spring Hill, Tennessee on my first housesitting adventure and Huff’s Grocery & Deli was on my bucket list of places I just had to try. After reading about Charlie (owner) and the friendly staff as well as their huge sandwiches, it was a definite stop this round.
Huff’s is on the National Register of Historic Places and was built in 1911. From the time you step in the door, you feel like you’ve stepped back in time at this small quaint and friendly location. Charlie and his staff treat you like family friends.
They are well known for their sausage, egg and cheese biscuits in the morning and their sandwiches the rest of the day. Sandwiches are made to order with fresh Boars Head meat and cheeses. While you are waiting for your sandwich, grab a bottled soda (yes, real glass bottles), a bag of chips and a moon pie to go along with it.
Note that because the building was built in 1911, they have kept it original and therefore no indoor restrooms. They do have porta potties out by the pumps. You don’t go to Huff’s for the bathrooms, you go for the hospitality and the food. And if you collect Case Knives, check out what they have to offer – there are some real beauties here.
Now that I’ve had the super sandwich, I’ve got to go back for breakfast and to meet Charlie. (P.S. Charlie, I’d like to feature you on our Humans of Tennessee series!!)
