Located in Frankfort, KY is an amazing 30 acre art park called Josephine Sculpture Park. In 2009, Melanie VanHouten turned her grandparent’s farm into a park filled with art. Not only is there art, but also native plants and local wildlife.
This beautiful park consists of over 70 works of art presented in nature. There are art pieces consisting of glass, wood, metal, and even graffiti along the 5 different trails in this unique park. The art is representative of artists from not only the US but from 10 countries.
Admission to the park is free and the park is open dawn until dusk daily. Bring the family, the kids and even your four-legged friends for an adventure you won’t soon forget. Visitors are encouraged to touch and interact with the sculptures.
There are self-guided activities available on their website. Upon arrival, head to the Visitor’s Center for a map or a scavenger hunt sheet.
They host a variety of activities through out the year including the Fall Arts Festival and Soundscape! Music Festival. They host public workshops, events and artist opportunities as well. If you have a youth or school group, reach out and they will be happy to host you.
Monthly join them for Night Sky Tour, First Sunday Guided Nature Tours, Family Days and Nature Photography Club. In the Spring there is the Nature Photography Workshop Series, STEAM Festival & International Sculpture Day and KECU Kids Adventure Day. In the Summer check out SoundScape! Music Festival, Blacksmith Hammer In, Graffiti Camp, Paint Jam Graffiti Festival. In the Fall there is the Fall Arts Festival, Fall Break Camp and additional Events and Workshops.
