Loveless Cafe is a Nashville Must See!

Loveless Cafe and Motel Sign in Nashville TN

I’ve seen pictures of friends in front of the iconic Loveless Cafe and Motel sign but never thought I would get the opportunity to actually visit. Luckily, my schedule brought me to the Nashville area for the summer and Loveless Cafe made my Top Ten Things To Do while in the area. Loveless Cafe did not disappoint – from the beautiful campus to the inviting and warm staff to the amazing food – make the time, make the drive – you will be glad you did.

I’m actually staying in Rutherford County, so breakfast at the Loveless Cafe meant an hour drive for me each way. I will be doing that drive a few more times this summer – this place IS THAT GOOD.

First of all, the vibe here, the story, the historical presence….start with a photo at the Loveless Motel sign – which is iconic in itself. In 1951 Lon and Annie Loveless opened their front doors to sell fried chicken and biscuits to travelers on Highway 100. They became so popular, their home was converted into a restaurant and they built the iconic 14-room motel for overnight guests. The iconic neon sign welcomes more than half a million visitors a year. If you get the chance to stop by, tag them in your post using #myloveless.

Biscuits and Jam

And, take the time to pop into the Loveless Cafe for some biscuits and some good southern cooking. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. You’ll start with a plate full of biscuits and a variety of jams. Did you know this location makes 10,000 biscuits a day??

The chicken and waffle didn’t disappoint. The chicken was crisp on the outside and piping hot and juicy on the inside. The waffle the perfect compliment. When you’ve fallen in love with this dish, hop across the parking lot and pick up a waffle mix to take home with you in the little shop across the parking lot. As you’ll see in my photo below, I also ordered a side of the BBQ – another thing the Loveless Cafe is known for. It’s mouthwatering and I’ll be back to order this on my next round to get the full experience.

If you want a great sampler, check out the Music City Sampler with a side of the hashbrown casserole. There is so much food here, you’ve easily got two meals or a meal to share.

And – remember you do have room for dessert! Try the banana pudding – even if you normally wouldn’t. This pudding includes home-made vanilla wafers. The pies are to die for, especially the key lime!

Before or after your meal, take a tour of the grounds and pop into the shops, take photos at the boards where you can put your face in the hole of a pre-made scene and post it to social media and last but not least play a game of corn hole.
