Get outside and create in the new year! During this First Sunday Guided Nature Tour, JSP staff will introduce a nature journal template that serves as an easy, motivating way to get you and your family exploring nature and art together each month. We will use a phenology wheel template to “fill in” the month of January together, based on a special thing or moment that happens during the guided park tour. The walking tour will last approximately 30 minutes and explore JSP habitat and art, followed by the approximate 30 minute phenology wheel creation.

The Ripy Mansion is hosting a unique bourbon tasting, featuring mother-daughter duo Joyce and Autumn Nethery from Jeptha Creed in nearby Shelbyville.
Co-owner and Marketing Manager Autumn Nethery spent a year studying distilling in Scotland and traveling abroad with Semester at Sea. She is now one of the youngest distillery owners in the country. Joyce Nethery, co-owner of Jeptha Creed, attended the University of Louisville Speed School where she gained her Master’s degree in chemical engineering. She is flexing her engineering muscles as Jeptha Creed’s master distiller developing delicious spirit recipes with the help of her amazing family and staff

Winter Wellness Workshop: Make & Take Fire Cider | Berea | January 23
Fire Cider is a folk remedy made with common kitchen ingredients and used as an immune-boosting tonic during the winter months. Traditionally, it’s made by infusing garlic, onions, horseradish and peppers in apple cider vinegar and honey, but you can add whatever you like to make it your own!
Participants will learn about the fascinating history of this remedy and craft their own version of Fire Cider using vegetables and herbs from the Berea College Farm. All materials provided and you will leave with your own pint of fire cider. For more information, click here.
